Star of the Show Ingredients:


Black Beans are great source of plant based protein and are naturally high in fibre. They also contain the phytonutrient quercetin which may help keep your heart healthy.

Cacao is a nutrient powerhouse. This chocolate powder contains more antioxidant power than blueberries and is also a great source of magnesium, calcium and iron.

Chia seeds are high in fibre and protein. They may also help you feel fuller as the fibre from chia expands with the water in your stomach helping you feel fuller for longer.


  • 1 cup of dark chocolate chips (can use dairy free)

  • 1 tin of black beans, drained and rinsed. (If using dried beans cook 200gms as per instructions)

  • ¼ cup cacao powder

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/3 cup coconut oil

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds (ground)


  • Preheat oven to 180C and line an 8x8inch square tray with greaseproof paper

  • Grind chia seeds in blender/pestle & mortar until fine

  • Add all the ingredients into a food processor/blender except chocolate chips and blitz

  • Stir in chocolate chips 

  • Pour mixture into tray and bake for 25-30 minutes until done.

  • Cool, cut into squares
